SO YOUR DAUGHTER IS JOINING? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Thank you for taking the time to come to our website!
The sisters of Delta Psi Delta recognize that both the recruitment and New Member period can be a very new experience to both your daughter and yourself. We hope to address some concerns you may have in this open letter. If you are still unsure or would like some additional explanation after reading this please do reach out to us!
Your daughter has expressed interest to become a New Member of Delta Psi Delta! We are so thrilled for the opportunity to meet and get to know her through the recruitment period. Our recruitment is a variety of social and philanthropy based events where both us and her can learn more about each other and our values. The sisters of Delta Psi Delta hope to find common qualities and characteristics with your daughter that are embedded into veins of the sorority such as Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. After recruitment period your daughter may be eligible to become a New Member. Before becoming a New Member, Actives take the time to meet with her one on one to make a final decision if we are really right for her. We then invite her on her next step in this journey.
The New Member period is sometimes a misunderstood process because people automatically assume that there is hazing. The sisters of Delta Psi Delta want to assure you that your daughter will NEVER encounter hazing within any chapter of our sorority. We realize that the New Members are our future sisters and would never want to put them in physical, psychological, or emotional harm. Please be assured that the New Member period is a memorable experience that truly brings members closer together and learn about Delta Psi Delta's history while making history of their own.
Every semester each chapter takes part in countless philanthropy activities. A common favourite is our annual Halloween Food Drive called Trick or Eats. We also participate in the MS walk every year, participate in Relay for Life, as well doing numerous fundraisers throughout the year in support of The Battered Women's Shelter within the chapter's cities.
Delta Psi Delta sisters also takes pride in our academics. We understand that school is the number one priority for every member. There is a grade requirement to apply and remain in Delta Psi Delta. We try to help our sisters as much as possible to achieve academic success whether it is: sitting beside a sister in lecture, lending study notes, offering advice about particular classes or professors, or even planning a study date at the library for an upcoming exam, Delta Psi Delta sisters are always here to help each other achieve academic success.
Lastly, Delta Psi Delta does take pride in being socially active within the Greek Community. Sisters are welcomed in all cities with open arms and take pride in collaborating with other Sororities and Fraternities in social events. Some of our Social events are our Formals and our Annual Pool tournament that has been done since we were first founded.
Like we said above, if you have any additional concerns or questions do not hesitate to contact us via email, Facebook, or Instagram
Sincerely,
The Sisters of Delta Psi Delta
